Boxer Mzamir Kakande was denied at Entebbe airport to proceed with Uganda national boxing team to Cameroon for the African Olympics boxing qualifiers yet he was included as one of the boxers.
According to reports his name was omitted from the list of those travelling.
Kakande had to put the boxing federation on spotlight to refund him his Ugshs1.2M that he paid so that they process documents for him to travel to the competitions. The boxer says he couldn’t afford to get that money but his colleagues in Bwaise – a Kampala suburb fund-raised for him and he managed to get that money and there is no way how he can now explain to them how he failed to make the trip unless in paying back that money to them.
However Uganda boxing federation president Kenneth Gimugu who is a judge said that he is not sure if any boxer who paid to make the trip save for UPDF that footed the travel bills of all the boxers from their club and the lead of delegation Lieutenant Col. Muwanguzi.

But Uganda boxing federation’s general secretary, Simon Barigo, is quoted in media to have put the blame of omitting the boxer from the list on the president whom he said, “he knows everything because everything is centered on him but he shouldn’t have done that.”
