Zambia, Sudan Faceoff In Semifinals

The semi finals of the CECAFA senior challenge cup kick off today and guests Zambia will face Sudan at 4pm at Machakaos stadium in Mombasa.

Zambia was held by Burundi to a goalless draw but advanced on 4-3 on penalties for the first time in since 2006.


Sudan last won the finals of the tournament in 2007 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw with Rwanda. And have also won the cup against Zambia when they were guests. Fans will be waiting to see if it’s a case of history repeating itself.


Zambia Coach Patrice Beaumelle has reported no injuries ahead of the fixture.  Rodrick Kabwe will return from suspension. Felix Katongo, Julius Situmbeko, Festus Mbewe and Bornwell Mwape (are expected to start for the Chipolopolo.




Sudan’s Saleh Ibrahim, Mohammad Tahir, Faris Abdallah are also expected to feature in the final. Sudanwho are unbeaten in their last two fixtures against Zambia are favorites to qualify for the final.
