Sudan will play hosts Kenya in the final of the 2013 CECAFA senior challenge cup after beating the Chipolopolo (Zambia) 2-1 in extra time on Tuesday. The game ended goalless in the normal 90 minutes but Ronald Kampamba netted for his side stars in the 114 minutes but Miaaz Abdelrahim’s strike leveled the sides.
Ibrahim Salah sealed Sudan’s fate into the finals. He is the top scorer with 5 goals.
Hosts, Kenya will play Sudan in the finals on Thursday after the Harambee stars beat Tanzania 1-0 in the semifinals at Nyayo stadium yesterday.
Clifton Miheso netted for Kenya in the 4th minute with a long distance strike that went past Tanzania’s goalie Ivo Phillip Mapunda. The Harambee stars defended their goal that led them to the finals. The match was postponed to 7pm after the Machakos stadium was flooded due to overnight rains and changes to Nyayo stadium were made.
Tanzania will play Zambia in the third place play-off at Nyayo national stadium before the “big game” kicks off.”
