Sserumaga Named SC Villa Captain

After the departure of Captain Jonathan ‘Dante’ Mugabi last season, new SC Villa coach Deo Sserwada and club president Ben Misagga have named Mike Sserumaga as new captain to be deputized by new signing Bernard Muwanga who crossed from Bright Stars where he has been the captain.
Deo Sserwadda said; “For me it’s always very important, the choice of captain. Mike has shown a great attitude towards everything he does. I have been very impressed by his professionalism and his attitude in training and to my philosophy. He is a great inspiration to the younger members of the team and I believe he will put his heart and soul into his captaincy role.”

Sserumaga’s eleven year experience in topflight football have seen him traverse various leagues with professional stints in Sweden, Rwanda and Ethiopia respectively.

On the assistant captaincy Sserwadda said; “Bernard Muwanga will become the vice-captain. Muwanga is a natural leader and will captain the team when Mike isn’t playing. Muwanga is experienced player and a very popular member of the dressing room now for the period he has been with SC Villa; I know he will work well alongside Mike.”

Mike Sserumaga expressed his gratitude for the trust shown by the coaching staff and management for the SC Villa armband.

“It is a huge honour for me to be named captain of this great club. It is a role I will perform with great pride. Team spirit has always been very high in our dressing room and I am very grateful to the coach for the faith he has shown in me. I look forward to leading the team.”
