Penalty Awaits Boxer Fazil Juma For Being Over-Weight

Uganda boxing team member at the recently concluded World Boxing Championships in Qatar Fazil Juma Kaggwa will have to be penalized by the Uganda boxing federation for being overweight which deterred him from competing in the championships yet he had already traveled with the team in Qatar.

Boxer Fazil Juma Kaggwa will be penalised by UBF

“We intend to handle him a penalty because it was his faulty and less is attributed to the federation for him being disqualified. The disciplinary committee is waiting for the communication from the executive committee members who will hold a meeting soon. Then from there we shall communicate the kind of penalty he will be handed,” said Fred Kavuma the publicity secretary of the Uganda boxing federation.

Fazil was disqualified by the weighing scale after he was found heavier than his weight – flyweight by more than two pounds.

Only Hassan Abdallah and Rogers Semitala did compete in the championships yet four had qualified with after also Ssekabambe disqualified himself by opting for world military games where he represented UPDF.

Uganda performed poorly in the championships that doubled also as next year’s Olympics championships however up to now Uganda is yet to qualify any boxer to Olympics.
