The Mountain Dew National Motorcross Championship is slated for 7th August at Victoria Race Track, Garuga as riders tussle it out for spots on the national team ahead of the Africa Motorcross meet in Kenya next month.
Arthur Blick Junior the record National motocross championship holder said that selection of riders will be also be judged on past performances of the season besides the 5th round which is vital too.
“This will be the final event before confirming our team to Kenya. We use more than one event to select the team but this one will be vital because it will be done on a track which is in almost the same condition as the Kenyan track that will host the continental event,” said Arthur Blick Jr.
Uganda is vying a second continental title after they won the first title four years ago. Over the years the Uganda team has struggled against their competition and Arthur says there is no need to wait until the event will be hosted in Uganda again to win it again.
“We want to leave a mark in motocross…winning the title away from home I think will be a big mark,” added Arthur.
Locally, Maxime Van Pee is still leads the MX1 log and he will vie for points in his race for a third consecutive title in.
