At the end of last season, reports revealed that Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza and Murushid Jjuuko had been released by Tanzania giants Simba SC. However, after the appointment of new coach Joseph Omong the pair has been recalled to the Simba squad.
The duo was suspended by the club last season together with another Ugandan player Brian Majwega for indiscipline. Despite being released then, the new club manager has included the duo in his plans for the coming season.
Simba commenced training already while the duo has been in Kampala for Eid celebrations and they are expected in Tanzania by Saturday to join the rest of the squad.
Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza impressed before his misdemeanors, finishing the season behind the league’s top-scorer and Hamis’ employers will be hoping for a change in behavior as he rejoins them.
Another Ugandan to return to the Tanzanian outfit is Jackson Mayanja who rejoined Simba last week and he will be counting on earning a new contract assisting the new manager.
“Mayanja is still in our plan for next season as we look to beef-up the team with a strong technical team. We want to retain him to assist our new coach,” said Simba’s registration committee chairperson Zacharia Hans Poppe.
