Tanzania will host the fourth leg of the African Rally Championship which is due early next month. The fixture is expected to feature a number of Ugandan drivers who will use it as their fifth round of the Uganda National Rally championship.
Six Ugandan rally drivers; Yassin Nasser, Adam Rauf, Abdul Ssempebwa, Duncan Mubiru, Christakis Fitidis and Jas Mangat have all already registered for the rally.
Of the six drivers only Abdul Ssempebwa will be scoring points on the African Rally championship while the rest will be driving for points on the local calendar.
Duncan Mubiru missed out on the season opener, formally requested the local federation to permit his participation in the Tanzania rally hence he will be looking to make up for the missed fixture. Mangat also handed in request to substitute the Pearl of Africa Uganda rally with the Tanzania rally.
However, the drivers have a tougher task at hand since the drivers have a local rally fixture a week before the Tanzanian rally, in the areas of Hoima and Masindi.
It is rare for this many drivers to take part in a foreign rally event but clearly Ugandan drivers are looking to measure their capability against continental drivers.
